We had players from Top 25 Division 1 programs:

Ivy league Bucknell and Maryland’s Towson State University and west coast MCLA players from USC, & ASU just show up impromptu to throw the ball around talk with each other and plan the future alumni games and talk about when they played at Hewes and their current goals for the college season.

I want everyone to know that there is great opportunity for lacrosse players. Every player can find a place that fits to play in college, and have a great experience whether in the NCAA Divisions or the MCLA divisions, But the key thing is your grades.

Your Opportunity is on a scale that will increase dramatically with every step you make above a 3.0 GPA and huge opportunities for those with 3.5 and better. So many of the schools have the “scholarship” money to give you for grades, rather than for athletic ability.

I promise we will train you over your playing years to be ready to perform on the field at each level you reach, but you have to get it done in the classroom. I want to encourage the parents and players to work together to develop strong study habits.

Learn to be a competitor in the classroom.

That is really what will open the doors of opportunity for you. I am excited to see where our players can go and what they can achieve. I hope to have this same type of moment in 3 years and 6 years & 9 years from now with the current players.
